THE BOARD

About this page

The market, read like a lesson

This page lays out the day's market in four groups: index funds, single companies, gold and crypto. Side by side, the groups show that different kinds of things move differently, and the terms on the board open plain-English definitions.

Where do the prices come from?

Each name on the board is invented and stands for one real fund, company or coin, so the price is real and the brand stays out of it. Stocks and funds can lag the real market by a minute or more; crypto trades around the clock, so it shows its spot price without a day change. Holidays are not tracked.

Why is the board grouped by asset class?

Because the groups behave differently, and seeing it every day is the lesson. A fund that holds hundreds of companies tends to swing less than any one of them, gold often moves on its own, and crypto trades all night with wider swings.
